Hey Dan - nice running.

Did you decide on a fall marathon yet?

From Dan on Fri, May 06, 2011 at 23:15:25 from 24.209.83.20

Hi David. I have the Air Force Base- Marathon, but that is September 17th, right near the end of the Boston Registration. I would like to run a nice August Marathon, but can't find any I like. I saw one in PA, but 11 miles of it are on soft ground- I think that would slow me down and play games with my legs. Know of any good ones then? I figure if I feel good I can run it for a PR, if not I can use it for training toward the September one.

Hey Dan, that's a tough one. I looked too and there is not much out there this summer. Salt Lake City is sometime in July but it's a lot of downhill and high altitude. We have a big group, me included, going out to Sacremento on December 4th for the California International Marathon. It is a point-to-point and pretty fast. Some small rollers in the beginning but not bad. Everyone that I know that has run it has run a fast time or PR'd there. I know that does not help you as you want to run one before the Boston registration ends.

Id like to run one before, but it is not a must- if I have to trust in my current time, so be it (besides I have not had a stellar training lately anyways). If I don't make it, it does not change the fact that I made my goal of qualifying (of course I would really like to run it). So Sacramento you say? I may have to look into it, it would be nice to know someone there- you guys doing anything to offset the cost of lodging?

Dan - one of the reasons people like CIM is that rooms are cheap - less than $100 a night. I would be up to sharing a room, though.
