So I started today wanting to run 20, but this would be the 4th straight 20 miler on Sat. Normally when I am logging big miles I wouldn't think to much about it, but I was sore yesterday and if I am trying to run by feel (pfeel?) - I better give what the body can take... or is that take what it can give. Either way. So I decided on 16 today. I was trying to figure out what would be a 'realistic' goal for Boston. I just want to enjoy it, but I am a competitor. I figure if I can get under 3:30 for a recovery I would be more than satisfied. I set the Garmin for 8 minute miles. Yeah a year ago that would be easy, but now it is tough for me to hold that long term

Hour before the run I had my bang bang (dynamite-spicy) shrimp. I did not know if that was smart or not, but it worked out well enough. 16 Miles, AP 7:52, splits 7:59, 7:53, 7:57, 7:52, 7:45, 7:48, 7:51, 7:51, 7:59, 7:58, 7:50, 7:55, 7:52, 7:53, 7:58, 7:27. Some of these were on hills and a pretty constant head wind so I was happy to keep it even. The last mile I sped it up to my old MP and had plenty in the tank at the end so a good run. Finish off with one of my non-dairy, coconut water based fruit smoothies. Yum-o!

Nice workout Dan. Those 1st few marathon workouts always seem hard. I think you'll find you're more ready than you think. Most of the time we don't realize how good of shape we're in when trying to log the miles. It takes a little taper to let the fitness come to the surface. Nice work recognizing the right amount of volume and intensity.

Nice paces Dan. Um, what time did you run? I am not sure Shrimp sound too appealing at 6 am.

Mr. Consistancy.... Great Splits! Now I'm sure you're feeling much more confident :-) and I'm glad you're not having any pain.
