It is getting cold! Not complaining, since I will take that over extreme heat any day. Tried to keep my intensity up and my muscle felt pretty good. Trying to stay on top of the RICE treatment as well, but life is life...

10 miles @ 7:40 pace 2 extra miles for fun and cool down.  Off to Chicago!

Have a good trip Dan -- Chicago is my birth city! I love visiting there.

I go to Chi town at least twice a year for work. It is very nice, but driving through it is NOT fun. :)

Hey if you ever run the Chicago Marathon we could both run it, but I dont know much about that one!

That would be awesome. I am usually not much for the huge races, but Chicago sounds like a good race (and this year it would not have felt hot to me at all after our prolonged summer here).

I also like NY a lot, mainly because if you qualify you are guaranteed entry. After Houston the only other "must do" marathon for me is the Gansett (http://www.gansettmarathon.com/). It is the ONLY qualifying only race outside of the Olympic Trials. To be honest, I am not really a "marathoner" - I want to do one more to get a 3:20, but I don't see myself as doing 2-3 more, although who knows how I will feel next year (if I get healthy again).

Hey that Gansett marathon looks cool, but I am not fast enough. Who said I was a marathoner? I am just a runner... :) The one in 2 weeks is just my 2nd one ever. I have some crazy notion I can run in 3:20 or less.

From Bonnie on Fri, Oct 22, 2010 at 18:48:43 from 128.196.228.134

hmmmm. Well, your 5K times indicate less than 3:20 is possible. Your 10K indicates you are on the border, which means it depends on your training. If I were you, and I wish I was because I have good stamina but lack speed, which you seem to have. I would go out at 3:20 pace (not faster) and see how it feels. It would be easier to judge if you had a recent 1/2 marathon or two under your belt. I am ultra conservative when it comes to pacing, I really really really (really) hate dying and slogging through the last 6 miles or more, so I generally keep my expectations to a minimum and feel really good if I can exceed it ... based on your leg speed a 3:16 is not out of the question, but since your 10K pace is not as strong, I would err on the side of shooting for a 3:20 and see how it feels.

It will be exciting to see how you do!!

Thanks Bon, you are a peach! The good news on what you were saying is the 5K times are more recent than the 10K. I am sure I can run faster than that 10K I posted. I know I have a shot at it, but I am going to try exactly what you said and pace for right at 3:20. Hopefully it will end up being a nice negative split and I can finish real strong. If not, no worries... I think :P
