6 miles- slow pace. About 5 miles in I had a guy stop his truck and ask me for directions to a certain street. I let him know where it was and he asked how far I was running. After a few moments of conversation we talked about marathon running. He said he used to run 7 mile, but not any marathons. All is normal until he said, well I am 69 now so I don't run after my quintuple by-pass surgery. He pulls his shirt down and shows me his scars, and said "I ate too much junk food", thanked me for directions and left. I knew it was going to be a banner day.

Leg update. After doing some exercises and testing I have figured out my legs have recovered fine but my slow progress is all in my left quad. I think the muscle is strained - just don't know how bad. I will have to go back to the docs I am afraid. I am leaving on a work trip Sunday too so it won't be right away for the doc. Trip is in Cancun so I will just have to suffer that one out.

So are you a professional vacationer...Cancun..Work..Really..?

Sorry to hear about the quad, hopfully it will heal with a little time.

My dad had a heart attack at 48 then quad bypass at 57. He's 75 now and doing fine. Hope I never have to go through that!

Was it your quad that you saw the doctor about ... around 6 weeks ago? His advice will probably be go to Cancun and rest! :) Hope you can get a little relaxation built into that work trip!

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 07, 2011 at 21:02:17 from

OH, someone beat me to it! Go to Cancun and rest, just what the doctor ordered!

Sorry about the pain. Man, you must just be getting really old or something. ;o)

From BTownRunner on Fri, Oct 07, 2011 at 21:31:56 from Cancun....I think you can manage ;)

Cancun for! You must have a great job! Sorry your leg is bothering you. I hope it is nothing serious. What are you tapering for? What is your next run?

From Dan on Sat, Oct 08, 2011 at 21:56:22 from

IJR- LOL now that would be a great job! I have been travelling alot recently. JG- Yep same quad, but hurting more- hope rest helps, will see when I get back. Kelli- Yep I am getting old! Now don't make me remind you how close we are on age (and weight haha just kidding :p) Cass- I'd manage better if I could take some people with me! Flat- Thanks and we will have fun after the am meetings. Steamy- Not tapering, slow recovery... just being help up by a stubborn quad.

From Kelli on Sun, Oct 09, 2011 at 00:20:05 from

Well, one thing we will NEVER be close in is the amount of ice cream consumed in one sitting. I WIN.

Have a fun time and get a tan for me in Cancun. My tan from summer is GONE! I hate winter white!
