Bit chilly. 17 w/6 degree wind chill. Run felt 'ok' and honestly that is to goal for now. My therapist gave me the 'ok' to increase my mileage some so that is great news.

On a side note, she video taped me running and reviewed it with some people. They said I was running VERY stiff. I watched it and agreed, the problem was fear. I am afraid to loosen up because I am waiting for it to hurt. That is something I need to get over. They also said I was heel striking and wanted me to consider changing that. I honestly have never been a fan of changing my gait but maybe should, but when? I want to build my base back, and quickly get ready for Boston. Honestly I am not even sure how to go about it, I mean I have already read tons about it, but I have no desire to run barefoot (yes that is extreme).

nice running, dan. great news that you have the go ahead to increase your mileage.

Those are all good questions. When I'm in that situation I just ask myself, WWaD?

Dan, glad to hear you are on the mend. Gait - don't know about that - maybe try some barefoot running on grass. When I changed shoes that helped me, but I see you are already running in some minimal shoes.

I was so happy to see a 7!! yay!! They watched me run too. I also heel strike and I don't lift my legs far enough behind me. I have really been working on changing my gait. I notice that when I am tired, I am running like my old self again. It is hard to do. I hope it helps me to not get reinjured! I'm so excited that you are getting ready for Boston! It will be fun to see you! I better make your avocado pie this week to celebrate!

Thanks Allie, is good news. Tell me about those 3's!

Burt- I am waiting to hear just that!

DH- yeah I love the lighter shoes. I do not think I can run barefoot in the snow (grass is covered). You owned Newtons, think that would help?

Steam- SO true, when I get tired, its over. I do love my pie! lol

From allie on Sun, Jan 15, 2012 at 11:04:11 from 97.117.82.156

well, i have only worn the 3s once, but so far i really like them. as i mentioned yesterday, they are designed to be a bit more narrow than the other versions, and they definitely fit tighter around the midfoot and offer less wiggle room in the toe box than the 2s. this is not necessarily a bad thing though -- they are still very comfortable and lightweight, and the ride is smooth. i actually like shoes that are a bit tighter around my feet. i love the 2s but i always felt they were just a bit too "pillowy", if that makes sense. i have to review them in detail on weeks 3 and 6 of the test, so i will let you know when i do that.

hi burt.

hi steam.

hi hammer.

Thanks Allie- I really enjoyed my Kinvara 1's (600 miles on 'em) and the 2's are nice, but if I had a complaint it would be the too soft feeling. That is a very minor complaint, but it seems like the 3's might address that- I look forward to your review.

From derhammer on Sun, Jan 15, 2012 at 20:54:46 from 70.113.125.159

Wow - Kinvaras too soft? Maybe you should tie boards to your feet! lol

I don't really like Newtons since there are so many alternatives out there right now. I guess they served their purpose at the time, though.

roadrunnersports.com will let you try shoes for 90 days and return them if you don't like them, so you could go that route. I have returned shoes a couple times with them and not had a problem.

From Dan on Sun, Jan 15, 2012 at 21:01:03 from 24.209.83.20

DH- well maybe soft is the wrong word. Maybe squishy? Just up front. I dunno.

I really don't want Newtons, I just thought if I was going to try and change my gait this summer- it could be an option. I normally thrive in change, but in this area, Id rather not.
